The new (to me) semi-hollow Ibanez Artist, beyond sexy.

Bruce,

They do look great. I'm curious if any of the specs are similar to the ART series that I am a fan of. You got model # that you can share?

Thanks for that.

It does have the same Neck shape of the ART series that i like (12" radius, C shape, 43mm wide nut).

It's got Super 58 pickups, which some jazz pros have used and seem to be highly regardes

The choice of maple as the body wood is unexpected for a jazz box.

Plus a maple neck on top of that. Wondering if the jatoba fretboard helps counteract the highs of maple neck, maple body and maple top.

I am with you but let's not box it in as a jazz box. Alvin Lee, Blackmore, Lifeson, Howe, and Andy Scott all played semi-hollows. I am sure either of us could rip the roof off the house with one of these if we wanted to.

Hm, this is more-or-less a reissue of a model they did in the 80s? I can't remember what it is, argh. Solid body Artist dimensions (smaller than 339), same controls, single f-hole and all that.

It's possible to find an Ibanez semi in three sizes depending on your taste - this one, 339 size, and 335 size. In the mid 80s, some models also came with Floyds :headbang:.

Maple ply with a maple block down the middle is the norm for 335 . . . and they're a pretty standard jazz guitar. I don't think the body wood would play a huge difference in the guitars ability to play the genre.

The 80s Artists weren't semi-hollow, but same shape, tailpiece, etc. I bet they will sell well.

The early 80’s AM Stagemaster series were semi hollow bodies just a bit bigger than the AR Series Artists. I have an a 1981 AR series (double cut Les Paul style) an AS (335 style) and an 82 AM. All fantastic pending a refret as they came with tiny wire to start and 40 years did no help on that.

Those early 80’s Artists are held in such high regard due to the build quality and components. Hoping the reissues kept those factors.
