Maple ply with a maple block down the middle is the norm for 335 . . . and they're a pretty standard jazz guitar. I don't think the body wood would play a huge difference in the guitars ability to play the genre.

Yeah, I still have it but unfortunately, it hasn't been played as much as it should be. I use the Pauls mainly for my new gig. I should get it out of the case slap on some new strings and put it on a stand. If I see it I will definitely play it.

^^ Cool. Yeah same here, if something's in a case, it never gets played (reason why nothing is in a case anymore).

I have the same model but it's all black, nowhere near as cool as yours! Good axe though - nice neck and quite aggressive tone, works well for harder music.

Ugh abalone ruins everything

Small semi hollows are great because you can play with a good amount of distortion at rehearsal volumes and easily get controllable feedback but nothing uncontrollable.

But why the hell is Ibanez putting abalone on a classic guitar like it's competing with Schecter for nu metal kids in 2005.
