How do you guys get your pedals on yer board?

I made a simple board earlier this year with a piece of wood, black paint and velcro. Recently we had our furnace maintained and I wasn't home when the guy came. My board was in front of the access door and when I went downstairs, he had laid it up against a wall on its side and most of the effects had fallen off, which I wasn't really happy about. Partly because he was an idiot and partly because the velcro turned out to be crap I guess.

What is the best thing to use, or if I'm in the right ballpark, what is a good brand of velcro? With this one, the bottom (carpet) patches stayed on the wood fine, the hooks were almost impossible to get off, but the backing on the hook side which is what I put on the pedals is what came off.

I went to home depot and bought some 8 dollar industrial grade velcro. No problems with it so far.

You can also buy these special figure 8 shaped washers on ebay that attach to the screws to your pedals and the other half is screwed down to your board, but you can't move them around afterward.

So, industrial velcro for flexiblity, or the washers if you're positive you won't be changing or moving pedals around. (and provided your board can have holes drilled in)

Great option man, thank you! Yeah, this is just a piece of 1/2 inch plywood I painted black. Holes won't mean a thing. I won't be moving the pedals around either so I guess whichever I see first is what I'll be getting. Thanks again.

How's the price for the dual lock over there? Any places on the 'net?

Re: How do you guys get your pedals on yer board?

I use large plastic wire ties. I drill thru the board, and wrap around the pedal, thru the board. I hate velcro. If you go to sell the pedal, no one wants velcro all over it.

Re: How do you guys get your pedals on yer board?

I use Home Depot industrial-grade velcro onto the pedals, and black fuzzy industrial-grade carpet for the pedalboard surface, As far as the pedals go what I do to make sure the velcro strips stick is I remove any rubber feet or rubber pads and I stick the velcro right onto the metal. If I can't remove the rubber pads (i.e Boss) then I flip the bottom plate over and if that can't be done (i.e. My Line 6 mm4 and Boss gigadelay) then I'll buy non-adhesive backed velcro and superglue it right to the rubber.

With heavy or large pedals I make sure to use as much velcro as I can, as those need more gripping space to compensate for the weight and size.

I also don't just sit the pedals down onto the board, I press them in and try to "rub them in" in a slight circular motion. This helps all the velcro teeth get a grab on more carpet thread and it's REALLY difficult to take them off.

If I need to remove velcro off a pedal, then I use pliers, nail polish/super glue remover, and a little elbow grease and patience, and the pedal still looks new when I'm done. :D
