How do you guys use chorus?

Most guys I know use it playing clean chordal stuff. Some others use it with acoustic guitars.

I personally prefer using it with a very slow sweep rate and very gentle feedback.... over a lot of distortion for chordal work, and sometimes for solos too. I find that it gives a certain harmonic response that I find quite pleasing.

Anyone else share this experience?

PS: I'm not talking about the OTT, silly tone that Bon Jovi's guitarist gets when playing the solo on 'Always', but more a gentle shimmer, almost as if it wasn't quite there, but it is.

I set my Chorus to emulate the sound of a 12 string.I don't like it to wobley.

I <3 chorus. I miss not having one. When I had a chorus I had it set really deep with the speed knob straight up. Loved the wobble. Miss the wobble.

I had a Roland JC-120, and loved the chorus effect on it. I used it pretty much whenver I was on clean. I don't think I've ever purposefully used chorus except on that amp, though.

I use chorus to some degree all the time. It just makes your sound a lot more interesting in my opinion. I always have light chorus over clean, rhythm, and lead tones. Not the wobble but you can tell theres some chorus in there.

I use it when I want to add a little "sparkle" to my clean bits. I used to use it a hell of a lot more on my old JCM800 though. Then again the clean channel on that one left somthing to be desired...

To all of you, I implore: step away from the chorus. And don't try that EVH trick of using a harmoniser. I'm onto that one too.

You people have ears. Make the right decision. Bin the chorus.

I put it in the effects loop with the delay. Not a lot, just enough to be heard some. My Chorus pedal is modified so it sounds a lot thicker now.

I use it only for leslie like sounds... but 99% of the time I never ever use it.

I model my clean tone off Eric Johnson which I think is perfection. I use a chorus to get a very subtle effect similar to how he uses one. You really can't tell it is chorus it just very slightly alters the tone and fills everything in....

I usually use at least some and often pretty much chorus on both my rythm and lead tones. I usually have a lot of depth but have it very slow if that makes sense, so it's subtle but still change the sound a lot if that makes sense.

I use my Electro-Harmonix Small Clone->Electro-Harmonix Big Muff for cleans and fuzz and it sounds great, I love it!

I use it as a "doubling" chorus by turning the speed way down and the depth way up. This really adds some fullness to a thinner sounding pup. This works clean or dirty. And yeah, no wobble here either.

These kids...they don't remember the 80's. They don't remember what dark times it really was when the chorus pedal was as important as the amp and you couldn't get a decent new tube amp to plug it into.

Any chorus is more chorus than you should need. If you feel you need chorus then please, try a touch of tremolo; just by nature it will be more interesting and much more listenable at a later date.

I have a bunch of Chorus pedals... 1 Ibanez Tone Lok thingy that i do not like a hell of a lot.. 1 80's Boss Demention C..... and 2 late 90's Boss Chorus pedals..

I mostly use my Chorus pedals for short phases rather then leaving it on for any sort of time..... Parts of loud solos, some clean sections of tunes.. Sometimes i use it with the Piezo bridge in my Godin thru a clean Classic 50 amp... Used to play Supertramps Give A Little Bit that way... Used a Chorus on and off thru out that song.

A Dimension C???? Man, those things are incredible. One of the best chorus effects ever made. Hold on to that thing.

Tell that to Lynch and Eddie and a bunch of others that didn't use a chorus during the 80's in their overdriven tone. They may have used in clean tones, but not in the dirty tones.
