How do you split the video screen so two videos are playing on one screen?

I want to make a video of me singing, playing guitar, and playing drums all at the same time.

I want it to look like the Brady Bunch.

What cheap or free software should I use? I am running Windows 10. I dont want a subscription to software, I want to buy it or get it free.

Most video editors can do this. Are there any other functions you need etc? Have you done any research yourself?

ffmpeg

(it's "a bit" hardcore, but very flexible:))

cool, I just got a new computer recently and did research last night before I posted the thread because I downloaded movie maker and it did not have that function for free, and the other programs I looked up were ranked decently by reviewers but were not free.

I dont need any other functions, just brady bunch splitting video. I could add the audio in Reaper. thanks for asking, your suggestions are appreciated Kamanda

I just wanted to see what forum users found cheap and easy :)
ffmpeg looks scary to a n00b like me Ill look into it further tho, thanks for the recommendation :)

Sony Vegas Platinum, while not free, is very reasonably priced for how powerful it is.

If you can't get it done otherwise, I can give you a ffmpeg commandline that you can just copy and paste.

How many sub-screens do you want?

Are they all already time-synchronized? (start at the same time, run at same speed?)

cool not sure how many sub screens, two for the next video I plan to make

thanks for the rec, I see vegas movie studio by Sony is $30 and seems easy to use:

The plus side of Vegas is that it is also a decently powered DAW for audio production, if you upgrade to higher grades later.

Adobe Premiere Elements is decent, and comes bundled with relatively cheap video capture boxes, though I'm not sure if it can be purchased outright anymore (cheap as well) since Adobe went all subscription with everything. You might be able to find an older video capture device that still comes with it, however. It's the full version (or has been whenever I got it with a new device), not a demo.

It can do multiple video and audio tracks, which can be dropped into the workspace window (what you'll see in the final render) and resized.

But for all that hassle, you may as well drop $30 on Vegas.
