Ha. Man -that looks like one of my old guitars, when I used to put effects circuits in the guitars....

Still have a Tube screamer circuit inside the electronics cavity in one guitar right now.

zoinks! the controls weigh more than the rest of the guitar

Looks like Lester Paul was his guitar tech. Even has the 4 screws in the top that would attach the metal brace that would run under the bridge.
