I hate it after overdrive. Different strokes for different folks i guess.

Well, I hate mine before the overdrive :p so we're even...

However, I don't tend to use much overdrive when I'm wha-ing...

Mine goes "waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwooooo"

Not so much "wwrawwwwraaaawraaaww"

Re: How Do You Use Your Wah Pedal?

The only effect pedal I have is a wah ... namely a Fulltone Clyde deluxe.

That's not to say that I wouldn't like more ... just the Fulltone is so goddam expensive that I'm still in therapy after parting with so much cash for one pedal. That said, I did try the Fulltone side by side with the Dunlop 535q ... and after hearing the Fulltone, knowing (or believing) that going through several cheaper pedals and upgrading over time was just delaying the inevitable, I just had to have it. What I was after was vintage tone (think "Say What!"/"Voodoo Chile") without icepick, and the Fulltone gives you exactly that, plus harmonics that jump out of nowhere just with a flick of the treadle, plus a grin that doesn't go away for hours.

Had it for about 6 months and use it occasionally because, as lots of you good people have said, it's a particular sound that doesn't fit in a lot of places ... but where it does fit ... that grin is coming back!

I have heard others say that they like the wah sound but don't use their wah because they're not happy with the tone ... so choose carefully ... try them all ... accept no substitutes for the one that you think suits your style. No grin ... don't buy.

Favourite wah sound:
American Deluxe Strat, neck pickup selected
Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, set to "Jimi", gain up full
Peavey Classic 30 through gain channel, gain set to about 11 o'clock, tone 3 o'clock, bass 10 o'clock, mid 11 o'clock, boost switch engaged. :)
