So I took my PRS CE24 to a local shop for some fretwork, plus bridge pickup replacement to a JB from a Pearly Gates. Well, it turns out my neck Pearly Gates had a dead coil (it never really did sound right), so I bought a new PG for neck. Kept the original five-way rotary switch.
Anyway, it sounds very good, but the wiring seems like:
1. Bridge humbucker
2. Outer coils (a little drop in output, hard to tell if it's out of phase)
3. Inner coils (a little raise in output, about the same volume as the full bridge and full neck humbuckers, definitely sounds brighter and out of phase)
4. Inner coils (warmer sounding, a little drop in output like position 2, hard to tell if out of phase)
5. Neck humbucker
Would position 3 be the only one out of phase, or positions 2 and 4 would be out of phase also without a magnet flip or switching the wiring?
