I have the chance to buy all 20 Danelectro pedals for $550. What do you guys think of their quality overall and is it worth it?

At an average of $27.50, I’m skeptical. Some of the pedals are easily worth that, in terms of what they do. Some are not. I have owned a number of these and still have five or six. The build quality isn’t high, but some of them really sound good. If you’re a collector and simply want all of them, and haven’t been able to find some that are in this set, it might make sense. Do you get the purple pedalboard with them? Both versions of the tuner? Both versions of the trem? If you’re less collectorish about it and would rather just have some good pedals, you might be better off picking and choosing the ones that would do the most for you sonically.

Agree completely with LPB. If it's the collection you want it's not bad, especially if it's in good condition. (Some are hard to get a hold of).

I was just thinking, it would be a good idea for a guitar player who wanted a basic pedal for every effect, but wanted to switch them out with more quality units over time. Kind of like a "Baby's First Pedalboard" if you will.

I really like the tremolo, octave fuzz, slap echo, and flanger — but I haven’t tried nearly all of them.

In that case I definitely wouldn't do it. $550 would go long way to create a very nice pedalboard, especially on the used market.

If I spent $550, came home, and stared down at a pile of Danelectro pedals, I'd feel sick.

Some of the Danelectro stuff sounds cool some not so much. If the play is to have multiple effects to experiment with I think you would be better off with an Eventide H9 or a Yamaha Majic Stomp if you want to go budget.

Yeah, it is more plastic than a whole pallet of... something that has a lot of plastic in it.

I'm with the others - that's a lot of money to put toward a bunch of effects that aren't worth all that much on their own. If you are just trying to go the absolute cheapest way to try out some different effects then just make a list of everything in their line and haunt eBay until you get each type of effect but don't worry about the brand. It's not unusual to see effects going for a couple dollars on there, and if all you want is to try something out it's certainly the cheapest way to go.
I feel a lot better tossing (or keeping, or giving away) a box I paid $5-10 for than one I paid $27.50 for.
