How good is this?

I'm in search for a good half stack and I saw the new Peavey XL Supreme head. I was wanting to know how good of a sound it produces. Would it be a good head to get? I like to play any thing from rock to metal.

XL's are solidstate. tube heads are much better but if you must go solid state because of money, i played a XXL that i didnt mind too much for a solidstate, but it should be your ears not ours.

I disagree. Tube isn't everything. Its a nice thing to have but it doesn't mean that it will be better everytime for every player. There are some nice solid state stuff out there. And besides all that matters is if it works for you. I know Im going to get attacked but you might look into the Kustom QUAD 200 stack. Its a good deal and isn't nearly as bad as some people will tell you. But again its just what works for you.

find yourself a used peavey ultra plus head over that. i have one and i love the thing...much better sound than the XXL and XL and it's the amp that the XXX is modeled off of with a few features the XXX doesn't have.
