Re: How high is low and how low is high?
I set up my cheap Ibanezes according to the factory specs in the manual. 2mm on the low E, 1.5mm on the high E, which I guess is a low action. However, I've played guitars which felt like they had such a low action they were uncomfortable. The low action on mine doesn't feel low because of how much neck relief I run. The ibanez spec is the biggest spec I've seen. Ibanez recommends between .3 and .5mm of relief at the 8th fret.
Now what's really weird about that, is that that's the same action and more fret relief than Fender recommends for a 7" radius guitar, on a 16" radius guitar. Huh?
Either way, I find it comfortable and playable. I must be weird.
