How is this combo for a Les Paul type guitar?

JeffB

Let it B
59 in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck?

JB in the bridge, 59 neck..sure..or JBb/JAZZn..OK...very popular..common....

Seems to me a 59b and JAZZn is kind of an odd combo. whatcha Duncan experts think?

maple top..mahogany body/neck...ebony board...

I recently played a guitar (Schecter) that came with a JB/Jazz and the guy that owns it switched the JB out for a 59...it was pretty cool.

Thanks Christian. Thats good to hear. I'm looking into driving down to Rondo music and trying out first hand/picking up an Agile Les-Paul, and they have a model that comes stock with a 59b/J-n

HERE is the link.

Re: How is this combo for a Les Paul type guitar?

I think that'd be a great set and very similar in tone to the '60 Les Paul Eric Clapton used with John Mayall for the Bluesbreakers album. Those were probably alnico 5 magnet pafs similar to the Duncan '59 in the '60 LP Clapton used for that album. The Jazz neck has just a little less bass and alittle more extended high end than the 59N. I prefer the Jazz neck to the 59N (though both are great pickups!) and the 59B is probably my favorite stock Duncan bridge humbucker. So the Jazz N and 59B would probably be a great combo. lew

Thanx Lew. I figured it would make a nice set, but was a little wary.....I've had Jazzes in the neck but they were comboed with a JB or Custom in the bridge and I've owned quite a few guitars with two 59s so I was fam with that too. Just not that particular combo..was wondering how they would complement each other.

Just wish they offered the Duncans in THIS COLOR. Thats the one I want. They said they'd throw in a pickguard too so I can cover up some of that pretty flame :D (I love pguards on my Les Pauls..what can I say?)

Re: How is this combo for a Les Paul type guitar?

That's one combo I haven't tried yet, but I really want to because it makes perfect sense. For some reason, I think of the 59B/Jazz as the C-5/59 Lite.

I have modified my Tele, to have a Jazz in the Neck and LIL 59 in the bridge.
I love this combo very much. Great articulation in the neck, and suprising oomph in the bridge.
