How "Jumbo" are Esp's LTD Extra Jumbo Frets?

Are we talking speed bumps, cut my finger open if I try to slide down the fretboard?

I ask because I have GAS for the new LTD Viper 1000 Deluxe in Olympic White:

(If I buy one, I'm most likely going to get a Tortoise Shell Pickguard made for it, it'll look so classy, despite the gold hardware).

The only thing I don't think I'll like are the Extra Jumbo frets. These are fairly new so no dealers around here have them. As a matter of fact i'm in a pretty small area that doesn't even have any esp/ltd dealers.

I've only played on pretty vintage frets from my Gibson E/2, and Medium Jumbos on my Fender Showmaster. I kind of liked the vintage frets, they made sliding a breeze. I guess worst case scenario I order the guitar, and have a luthier file down the frets.

I tried an LTD EC400 VF and the frets were pretty **** big. They even felt a bit "pointier" (if that's a word) than my Ibanez' frets.

Just A/B'ed my EC-400AT with my Ibanez SZ, which has medium frets. The LTD's frets are bigger but not monstrously bigger and or hurtful. Really you should try and play a LTD with XJ frets before making the purchase. Though the ESP neck shape is extremely comfortable in my opinion.

My first guitar, a strat copy came with vintage size frets, and when I got a guitar fitted with jumbos (well, tall narrow frets, 6105 fret wire I believe), for a little while, maybe 2-3days, they don't feel 'right'. But, after I got used to them, the difference was amazing. My fretting hand touch became lighter, and my vibrato improved as well. As for that apparent disadvantage of depressing notes too hard and the note/s going out of pitch, I've never had that problem, because it's a fault of the player's poor technique, nothing to do with the frets and I'm a firm believer that upgrading from vintage to jumbo frets improves a player's technique and reduces the amount of stress on the fretting hand.
Bear that in mind when you get the ESP. Oh and as for sliding, another reason why I liked jumbo frets is that because there is less contact with the fretboard and your fretting hand, you can slide faster and more smoothly.

The ESP jumbo frets are kinda big.

For the record, I had a Viper 400 I ended up trading in becuase I didn't like the neck. It took too much effeort to play and long jams would cause my hand to cramp up...

I'm sure they just stole Jacksons fret size and stuck it on their guitars.
