How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

Re: How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

I do the bass thing when I have to or when I record...as far as bass gear...

Black Jazz Bass with the guardplate removed
and either an Acoustic 150B head and a Sunn 2x15 cab
or My Fender Twin Reverb with my 4x12 cab (loaded with late 60's purple Fanes)

I almost always have an Envelope Filter, a dirt box, and a Flanger when I play bass, for the dirt box for bass I prefer either a Rat or a Distortion +, and sometimes a Big Muff, as for the flanger it is my Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress.

Re: How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

Bass is my main thing in rock band settings. I've got a Squier that I hotrodded as a project, just a volume control and Duncan quarter pound pickups (on loan to a friend), a no name copy of a Gibson EB-3 SG bass made in Japan in the 70's (disassembled at the moment), and the coupe de grace, an '00 Fender MIA Jazz Bass. That thing can cover everything. If it was ever stolen, I'd hunt down the thief and castrate him with a rusty coat hanger. Amp is pretty simple; Peavey TKO 115. string of choice would be Everly Bass Rockers, 55-105. Righteous. :headbang:

Re: How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

2 Precision basses, 2 Jazz basses, 1 MusicMan, 2 custom built 4 & 5 string basses, 1 custom built 5 string fretlless bass, 1 Aria Pro active bass, 4 string acoustic bass. Sans Amp (Bass) Pre-amp.

Small gigs and some studio work: Polytone 100W combo & 12" extension speaker/cab; Ashdown 150w (1x15) combo, 2 Carlsboro bass amps 100w (1x15) - sometimes used as monitors. Mediium/Large Gigs and some studio work: Laney B2 (750W) 2x10 combo with either a 1x15" or 2 x15" extension cab

Oh, forgot to add one of my other all time favorites; sadly hasn't been getting much use lately, but I think I'm going to change that.

1958 Kay Upright bass. Awww yeah...

Re: How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

F***ing Hails man! Currently I'm using a Warwick Streamer thru an SWR head; then thru a Mesa Boogie Diesel + a Hartke XL (both 4x10's). In a word--PUNISHING

Re: How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

'76 Jazz with EMGs or early 70's Rick 4001, into a SansAmp RP-1, Fender Power Amp rated at 425 per side driving a 410 cab and a 15 cab.

Re: How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

nope, i wnated to play bass originally but i relaized i wasn't tall enough otherwise i'd look like a midget with a monster guitar.

Re: How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

I've got a '97 G&L SB2 through an Ampeg B3158. I've been looking to upgrade the amp for a long time, but can't find the right deal. I think someday I may replace the SB2 with a Musicman Stingray too.

Re: How many Bassists do WE HAVE here?

I haven't picked up my bass in a while. It's an old Epi Jazz Bass style. I have no Idea how old it is, bought it second hand in '93 or '94. The pots suck, pickups are so weak, it's only saving grace is a string-through bridge. I'll probably throw some QPs in there at some point. I've also got a Yorkville 100W combo. It sounds better amplifying a guitar though.
