Whoa... You take a Marshall Valvestate combo's sound over cabs???? Did you upgrade that speaker?

I have a VS65 laying around, don't know about the 12" on the 100, but the 'Marshall Gold' thing on the 65 sounds awful... personally conflicted between trying a speaker swap, scrapping the footswitch in jack and resoldering it as a speaker out to try it with a 4x12" cab, or just selling it outright.....

Re: HOW MANY CABS DO YOU HAVE??? Including "Combo" cabs

1 Dime 4x12 cab. I really want to try a Zilla fatboy cab sometime though.

Re: HOW MANY CABS DO YOU HAVE??? Including "Combo" cabs

I own two cabinets; a Crate GX-212+ combo and a Crate GS412s cabinet. Both have been reloaded with Celestion G12H-80 speakers and wired with Monster speaker cable.

I regularly play through the Crate 4x12 in conjunction with my friend's Mesa Rectifier oversized cab with Celestion Vintage 30s though.

---
I really need a 2x12 or compact 4x12 that I can use for practice at home though.

Re: HOW MANY CABS DO YOU HAVE??? Including "Combo" cabs

1 Mesa 4X12 recto slant
1 2X12 Fender combo
1 1X12 Fender combo
1 1X10 Fender combo
1 1X4 Radioshack battery powered mini amp < with blown speaker

Hey, how are those Crates? I keep seeing them for <$100, are the worthy of reloading, or just a waste of money? What's their downside, plywood or polymer construction of some kind? And do they take punishment OK, or are they the kind to fall apart if moved often and hence so cheap??

Nope it is stock. My house is open concept I am lucky the wife lets me keep 16 guitars and a couple of combos upstairs. Right when you walk in our front door you get hit with guitar madness. It looks like a mini music store. Setting up a stack would be pushing it. Especially seeing that stack is pushing 300 watts per cab.

The combos are for sketching out sonic ideas. When I want to rock out I head down into the basement where the cabs are. The funny thing is there are no stompboxes setup downstairs, so when I really get my fix in it is just me, the guitar and an amp. I love it.

How many, including combo cabs? I have a lot, and want more! Cause you can never have too many.

If you live in an apartment, you can certainly have too many. I own zero. In Japan, few people own cabs because they don't need to. Nearly every place that hosts live music, and every practice studio, provides not only the PA but also guitar amps, a bass amp, and a drum kit. Same goes for outdoor shows.

It works for me because I live in a small apartment and take the bus or train to all of my gigs.

thanks for the breath of fresh air :) I like everyones comments in this thread

cool, that is definitely the best! I have practiced at some practice studios that provide that stuff which is great for the drummer and everyone that does not like hauling and setting up. definitely they do not do that in Austin!

ya space is limited in my small apartment too, but I just stack em up and they are taking up 3feet by 7 feet. I would just vertically stack another cab and it would not take up any additional space, and then I could have a MONSTER half stack for the big gigs that need stage presence!

300 watts per cab? That is the handle capability, not the output.
Unless you are running three 100 watt heads through each cab, all at once.

Re: HOW MANY CABS DO YOU HAVE??? Including "Combo" cabs

1985 Marshall 1960B with G12T-75's. Grill cloth is browned due to the batch they had that year. No casters. This is my main cab that I play through 90% of the time.

90's Marshall 1960B with G12T-75's. Bring this one on tour mostly as the casters come in handy when your moving it every day

Homebuilt 2x12 built to Marshall spec, loaded with V30's. This guy is used when there's not much space and is currently all mic'd up so we can do demo's a little faster.

No that would be 300 watts per cab! I run a Chandler Tube Driver into a JBL MPX300 power amp, 300 watts per side. The end result is super crisp and very British. Feel free to comment on my sanity it wouldn't be the first time some one has called me insane.
