how much is my '91 american strat worth?

First of all, this is my first post. I know many members here have a wealth of knowledge on guitar subject matters.

I'm looking to sell my strat that I've had since '91. Here are the specs:

- color: metallic blue (gun metal, i think)
- maple fret board
- SSS pickup configuration w/ 5-way switch
- all stock (no mods)
- condition: excellent (been put away for the past 14 yrs)

What's the going price on a early 90's strat?

this should probably be in the trading post? but...

with a case id say $600 is a good ball park if its in good shape and plays/sounds good. figure a new american strat is around $1000, so $700ish used. yours being a little older and slightly different specs probably worth a little less. if you can get more, then take it.

$500-$700 tops.... i guess a '91 just isn't in high demand yet. Still plenty of '50s-'70s Strats going around. If i had one, i'd hang on to it though!

My 88 American Standard i picked up for $500 Canadian with a hardshell case..... The guitar has a few dings.... the inca silver finnish turned Green... The original pickups were gone and it had EMG's.... had been refreted with 6100's..... there is a number on the neck plate and the local techs sya that number meant it was rental guitar at a Toronto music store.... So it has seen some action... I replaced the pickguard and added Duncans.... one of the finnest strats i have ever owned..... something just right with the wood in this guitar. When i first took it apart i had to wash it as it was extremely dirty... the trem's saddle heigth screws were rusted in place...

Local store said if it had the original pickguard and had been in slightly better shape they would of sold it for $700 Canadian.... if that helps in any small way....

Since American strats are a dime a dozen used, I would say the $450-$550 range is a safe expectation. I have seen then NUMEROUS times sell in this range.

my first guess was $600 before I looked, so I agree with the rest.

for years, the American Standards were one of the best, most affordable, good gigging guitars out there, which is why there are so many used ones out there.

It's a Fender, and they are always easy to sell used in decent condition.
