How often do you change strings?

Re: How often do you change strings?

I change them all whenver one breaks, whether its been a week or a month, etc... Aside from breakages, I'll change when my guitars with the Floyds won't stay in tune anymore.

Re: How often do you change strings?

Well it depends on the instrument I'm playing:

Guitar: Every month or two, unless I'm trying out a new brand.
Bass: Never. When I play my bass, I typically let my style be more Reggae-ish. I love the sound of reggae bass, and bassist in that style crank their bass and use deadened strings to get that heavy, chest-pounding sound.

Somewhere between 3 months and a year.

I lucked out. My strings never corrode unless I haven't played them in awhile.

Given my usual amoutn of play, about 2 months. I clean 'em a lot though.

Does that mean you have very Alkali sweat as opposed to Acidic sweat?

+1 for not liking the zing of new strings, but I don't really like rusty strings either, mine usually get changed every 2-3 months or so.

Re: How often do you change strings?

I normally don't change them until they start to sound like crap. I don't have a set time frame in which I change my strings. I just change them when I feel they need to be changed.
