I don’t know what kind of question this is. I guess we’ll find out. What if it’s an Epiphone? I guess. What if it’s a Hamer or a Dean or something? Okay.

So how old is your Explorer-shaped guitar thing? If you have more than one, go with the average. Or median. Or oldest. Or newest.

Re: How old is your Explorer?

Does an Ibanez destroyer count as explorer shape? I need L.Pb judgement before I vote.

Re: How old is your Explorer?

I don't remember the day of the top of my head, but my Explorer was made in Feb. 1996.

Re: How old is your Explorer?

I think I've had mine about 15 years now, paint is starting to wear off.
She's actually the reason I joined this forum, to get advice on pups for her. She's been through probably 10 different sets over the years.
I also rewired the toggle and put it where it should be.

It's something like 4 or 5 years old, just a guess. It currently has burstbuckers in it, they're...meh. I haven't decided what I want in there next.

Re: How old is your Explorer?

Both of mine are 10–20 years old.

My Gibson is a 2006. Purchased used, made some mods. Very few of the replaceable parts are original: the paint, the switch (which will be replaced with a gold one), the truss rod cover, and the bridge (which will be replaced with a gold nylon-saddled ABR-1 eventually). Still a work in progress, including a refin to dark hunter green with tailpiece deletion and the addition of a gold Maestro Vibrola...but she sure is a beauty even as she stands. Also, I plan on replacing the P-Rails with a set of Phat Staples. I already have them, but I need to send them back in to Duncan to have them converted to gold trim instead of nickel.

And here's my 2004 Dean Professional, which I got for the score price of $550 (after selling off that Dimebucker and putting the original bridge pickup back in). At some point, I will be getting the stock 50mm Duncans (JB/'59) rewound into underwound Seths.

And there's this 2012 35th Anniversary ML that I have cosmetically modded a bit (trim rings, gold hardware, black pickup rings, black knobs). Not sure if it counts or not. Crappy pic, but it's all I have uploaded at the moment. I have considered selling this many times (including at the moment), but when I go to play it, I have second thoughts. The 35th model is nicer than the standard import MLs. It came with Super Distortions and an ebony board, and it was a limited edition of 150 guitars. They were later put into regular production as the Chicago Flame Series. It's a cheesy-ass guitar, but in the end, it sounds awesome.

Re: How old is your Explorer?

I’m afraid he doesn’t have the right body shape.

Re: How old is your Explorer?

This is not mine but is exact same. Well, mine has a few more dings in it. It is currently at home base and I am not.000000113632720-00-500x500.jpg
