I have one on a custom strat, and it's just slightly thinner than the neck on my Hwy 1. It seems to flatten out more on the back profile, while the Hwy 1 has a more rounded shape. It's not Wizzard thin, just really nice and comfortable.

Yeah, It's pretty ****in' thin.
Although, I like pretty ****in' thin, & heart my warmoth standard thin necks.
Maybe Warmoth should call them pretty ****in' thin, instead of standard thin?

I've had both. I'd categorize the "standard thin" as thin, not medium c. The wolfgang is my favorite profile period. I think it sounds exactly like what you want. A nice medium size, not too thin, but not too chunky either. It also fits the contour of your hand extremely well.

The Wolfgang shape is KILLER, it will be what I go with on my next project. Make a "C" with your left hand but keep your fingers fairly straight, and you'll basically see how it's shaped. Very ergonomic and comfortable shape.

The Wolfgang and SRV shapes are both great, they are my two favorite neck profiles of all-time. They are both about the same in terms of thickness and taper, and both are slightly asymmetrical. You can't really go wrong with either, they are moderately thick without being baseball bat thick. I think you'd probably find the standard shape to be too thin.

i'm not sure you'll like the standard thin...i have it on my warmoth and it is one of my favorite necks...the shape is similar to a typical fender C but a tad bit thinner and feels great to me...heck even bludave liked it when he played it and his favorite neck is the Fender clapton strat V. but if you want thicker than typical fender then i'd pick another profile. why not just go with the new '59 roundback profile they have, that should be around the thickness your looking for since i'd put a fender C b/t those two.

the standard thin is IMO slightly misnamed. It´s a bit thinner than most players expect, think along the lines of a USA Soloist or a DK-1 crossed with a ´59 paul...
I disagree that it´s a "shredders neck" though, as it´s considerably thicker than most Ibanez or Jackson necks....it´s fast, but nothing to launch rockets off of

I use a Warmoth standard thin - I love it! I would call it rather thin compared to most necks. I've had several Ibanez guitars with thinner Wizard necks that I thought were a little too thin. Warmoth's is perfect.

I'll defer to Zerb that it's not a shredder's neck - that's what I was told by someone who's fairly knowledgeable about necks
the standard thin is not a C profile at all ... in fact, it's a little ironic that Warmoth doesn't really offer a C profile, AFAIK, other than the fatback, which has no taper. That leaves you with a choice between the Wolfgang and SRV

I'd also recommend having them roll the edges, if possible. That may knock a little of the edge off the fingerboard and fret ends. I'm currently having my fret ends on the Clapton gone over by my luthier, since they stuck out uncomfortably far.

Warmoth won't roll fretboard edges, I asked them last time I placed an order.
As for the '59 Roundback, that's closer to a 50's style Les Paul neck in terms of size. If you want something of medium thickness, you'd be much better off with the Wolfgang or SRV profile.

I am looking for a fast playing neck however. But I have long thin fingers so a wizard shape is too thin for me, it cramps up my hands. I basically like a thin shape with a little chunk. There's an interesting story attached to this one. I met Joe Satriani last year during the thin lizzy/deep purple tour he was on. A friend of mine works backstage at one of the venues the tour was going through. And aside from that, you know when major bands tour and they need a LOT of people to set up the stage so they hire people locally? Yup, I'm one of those people. Bust your ass for 12-16 hours straight but at about 15-18 bucks an hour it's worth it for one day. I've met a lot famous folks this way. Back to the story, when I shook satch's hand I noticed they are very similar to mine. I tried one of the Satriani model Ibanez guitars and guess what? Fit like a glove, big surprise. Maybe one day I'll get one of those. I got a pick of his too. When I met Victor Wooten the year before this guy has the biggest mitts ever, like baseball mitts. It was like shaking hands with bigfoot. Now I know how he do all that crazy $hit on bass.
so yeah, a thin/medium C? I HATE RADICAL TAPERS!

You can always get a thicker neck and shave it down a bit. Evan once mentioned that Seymour himself has done this quite a bit.
I emailed Tommy at USACG to ask if his products were compatible with Warmoth's, and he told me that they were. I also asked around on several forums, and everyone who had mixed parts from the two companies told me that it worked perfectly. I would consider maybe going with a USACG neck and a Warmoth body.

Hmm. See I always liked the style and availability of warmoth's bodies and preferred USACG necks. If they work together well my problems might be solved.
The question is will it work AS well as a warmoth/warmoth combination. For a tighter fit and such?
