How to cover up holes on a Strat pickguard.

Here's a neat trick i wanted to share... I typically run a 2-knob setup on my Strats for picking hand comfort and trem arm clearance. I plug the holes in the guard with a 3/8" nylon locking plug!

Looks super clean (better than a sticker or electrical tape) and it's easy to get out of the guard if you want the 3-knob setup again. $0.75 for two at Home Depot!

Or, if the guitar is active any way, you can put fit an LED in the same spot to remind you to unplug your guitar when your not using it.

That's rad and I very well might use that some day. but not on a guitar where my hand would hit it constantly. That's the whole reason I got rid of the volume knob there.

I totally botched a custom pickguard drilling for the volume pot (measure twice, drill once) and that was the solution. I have another one in chrome that is destined for a Tele project.

I drilled it rectangular and put jaguar type slider switch there on a metal plate. Very nice for fast switching.

Fender sells switches designed to fit that hole, I think. Would be my choice to cover the hole, if I didn't prefer the slider type.

You could always get a strat pickguard from Warmoth and have any elements you don’t want done away with entirely.

That would look sick with an 8-hole pickguard and white screws. I was actually thinking about doing something like that with a Hot Rails and no pots whatsoever.

You can certainly do it with Warmoth.

My tone knob is actually not connected. I just don’t like the one knob look.

This is true! I've bought warmoth guards before for parts builds, but this was an existing guitar and I actually do like the tortie pickguard on this one.

And $0.75 for two plugs right now seemed more appealing that $25 plus shipping in two weeks.

I just left the hole. Hell, it's nothing compared to the missing middle pickup. I did put electrical tape over the hole, on the inside though. Still stuck, going on almost a year.
