How to EXTEND A SPEAKER CABLE

I had a combo shell 2x12 for my amp.

I want to use the combo shell as a 2x12 because I love the way it sounds and records (yes, I fear it looks ghetto but oh well, I like the 2x12 body, it's light).

The speaker leads in the combo body are not that long and it's a MALE connector. How do I make it a femae end? Is there a female to female extension piece that I can connect?

Screw extension pieces - wire up a new jack/cable to the sucker!

There is but it wouldn't be of very high quality - it'd be a Radio Shack type of thing.

The only female to female connecter I'd trust would be a self-made one with Neutrik plugs and Mogami or similar quality cabling - and for that effort, you might as well just make a new jack onto the speakers, and not mess with adapters and whatnot. The more ish between your cab and head, the more chances to suck tone.

there is no female to female connector I can just buy?

Maybe? But I've never saw one. I had the same problem a while back. I bought a sealed 1/4 female jack from Smallbear ( I'm sure radio shack has em' to) I cut up a old extension cord and solder it on. then wrapped the crap out of it with electrical tape. Then I solder the other end (Checking polarity) to a old switchcraft male plug I had. (Again, More Ghetto looking electrical tape)
Problem solved.:D

Not just tone suckage. It's another thing that can fail between your amp and speakers. If it does fail or someone trips over it, the open circuit can fry the output transformers in whatever tube amp is hooked up to it. :(

You can do that or get a male to female cable, hooking up the female end to the existing speaker cable and putting the male end into whatever you want to put it to. Weber has some (I do not know how good the quality is) and they come in 2 ft, 4 ft and 8 ft.

The ones that say "phone plug to phone jack cable" is the one you want. Hope this helps.
