the title says it all... what would be the exact process for converting one to the other? or would it just be easier to sell the cc and buy a c-5? is it hard to make one from the other?

all you need is an alnico II bar magnet...do a search on magnet swap for step by step instructions, as well as good places to buy magnets

As the guys said. It's simple as pie. Get an A-5 magnet and swap out the A-2 in the CC.

It's not hard at all. Take off the tape around the bobbins. Then loosen the 4 screws on the bottom plate a little until you can lift the bobbins up far enough so you can see the bar magnet. Then wiggle it loose carefully (it can be stuck a little because of all the wax in there) and put in the A5 magnet. Done.

You might want to write down how the old magnet was in there in case you want to use it again. ;)

I just re-installed a Custom Custom in my Strat last night. I'm going to give it some time, but if in the event I do the magnet swap what would I expect to hear? Some folks say the C5 is scooped sounding, some say it's not. Some say the C5's treble is too much and some say it's not too much. Huh?
