I don't have audio on firefox, but was that a reverb tank full of capacitors?

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

The thin red line between genious and insanity - now has a trimmed shoelace slipped around it.

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

That's amazing.

It reminds me of a story about either an old 800 or superlead that some guy brought in and hooked up and said he'd "modded it" to sound like Randy Rhoades. The board had stuff randomly cut and soldered on it...............needless to say he was a little off the mark tonally.

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

Someone needed to take that person's soldering iron away very early on.
I can't help but wonder what the last mod was, that caused them to stop, take a step back, and say, "I think I've ***** it up now, better take it to the shop."

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

Dude, I watched that vid with my jaw on the floor in disbelief. That was NUTZZZZZZ!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

That was incredible. Amazing. And, really, really frightening.

Didn't like the wormy guy's voice nattering in the background (someone please put him out on the porch and give him a fresh bowl of water!).

Bingo! Too many voices yammering on at once with that weasely voice being especially annoying. I don't think the video needs any sound at all to get the point.

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

Anyone want to buy a modded Blues Deville?

That was a meth head mod IMO.

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

As far as I know the problems were mostly rudimentary; cold solder, broken connection to the fan power supply, and a blown tube. It is pretty obvious the guy who did the mods was a bit of a Hi-Fi nut. Adam told me the owner was happy with the way the amp sounded, and just wanted to get it running again. To my knowledge, all the "weird" stuff remained, including the external PS filtering, the series tone/coupling caps, 10 gage wire, etc. He simply got the amp to perform as modded and sent it back to the owner.

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

I don;t know whats annoying. Trying to follow the conversations in that video or the mods themselves. I'd be just as shocked as anyone else, but the doods in the vid are making it seem like someone just turned into a taco that craps icecream.

Re: How to NOT! Mod your amp

That is the amp that WALTERS built, after asking for amp advise on every guitar forum on the internet. hahahaha
