How to obscure a hole on strat top?

Re: How to obscure a hole on strat top?

I seal the toothpick before I paint it, correct? Also, here's a better picure to better show the hole. It's not perfectly cinsistent in terms of depth. You can see where the drill bit hit it (luckily it broke before going all the way through), where the dril hit it, and then where the finish cracked.

You know what? I'd be tempted to map a constellation on the body and then use this hole filled with something shiny as one of the stars. Then drill other holes for the other stars and treat them likewise.

That's beautiful, and I sincerely mean that! I could stare at that all day man!

Christopher, on second thought, maybe you should get a Jem.

Re: How to obscure a hole on strat top?

Make the hole big enough to be useful
Maybe a pick holder or battery box

Handle of some sort

Screw a clothespin on just there to hold you cable

Re: How to obscure a hole on strat top?

I've got spray paint that is supposed to match the color. This appears to be slightly darker (within the tolerances of difference in batches of paint). Should I spray it out into a bowl and mix it with a little white paint to make it lighter? Or just let it stand out a little bit?

Re: How to obscure a hole on strat top?

So I have filled the wood and painted it, I believe however that it could use a clear coat on top to better match the rest of the finish. The repaired area is still at little bit lower than the rest of the wood, but in case the clear finish puts it a little higher, what should I do to make it level? Also, any tips on applying the clear coat?

If you keep dinking with it
It's gonna be more obvious than the hole

It's actually been going pretty good so far, I've got everything taped off and ready to paint, I just want to know how to even out the finish after I spray it.

Play on stage with another player using sweet flame top Les Paul. No one will even look at the Strat.

I'll just sell it and get one of them bullet squiers. Then it'll be someone else's problem. That's really the only solution I can think of. Plus, maybe if I save up I can also get a set of glow in the dark strings and a capo later on down the road.

Naah...I think he just likes to be on the spotlight. I already offered solution (which is not unlike what he eventually took) on day one and now we got three pages of pointless rambling...he...he...

Clearcoat for minor blemishes is usually sold in all hardware stores branded as:

Krazy Glue
Super Glue

Re: How to obscure a hole on strat top?

Here's an example of the bare minimum correction I applied to someone's unnecessary strap button relocation... This is a toothpick and a dab of model paint with no other work put into it, and it's pretty unnoticeable. If I ever start really caring, I can apply more paint to fill it in, wet sand it down, etc...
