How to paint Wah

It seems as if it has a pretty thick coat of some type of paint on top of a rough metal. Is there any way to tell if the paint will play well with acetone? Also, the tread of the pedal is made from some sort of grip tape like on a skateboard, what the best way to get rid of it so I can replace it?

Woah, I literally just got one of these the other day. I'd have to check, but I think the paint may actually just be a wrap. It's got too much consistent detail plus it goes into the inside of the enclosure.

Ahhh - so it has the "texture" - that sucks. No idea.
I say test a small area. There is always "just spray over it"
But like I said - if it isn't the standard black - I'm out. No idea what they did. I have painted a black one before, just shot it with a can. Worked fine.

Best method is to take it down to the bare metal and prep it for new paint. Doesn't matter if it's a wrap or paint. A proper prep will give the best results.
As for the treadle foot pad, unsure where a plain replacement can be had. Dunlop might have them in their parts store or email them. Or find a cheap dead Crybaby somewhere and swap the entire treadle out.

Should be possible to heat the tape and then use a wide flat razor to cut under to pull it up. At least that's how we always got it off skateboards.
Board tape is pretty cheap and can be reapplied easily after the painting is done.

That would do it.
Looking at pics of the green camo version, it looks to be paint. Seen some used ones on Reverb with chips. The black one might be a wrap. It looks really consistent bit then again, so did the green camo.
Well, for $40 you can get a new enclosure and paint it, and keep the original in case you ever sell it.

This is the way to go. You would have to drill a hole in the side I think, but that's doable.

Okay, I've got quite the idea going on here. I won't spoil all the details because I haven't gotten them quite down yet, but the treadle will be white with cherry blossom pattern and the grip tape will be replaced with rosewood.
The base is where the details get fuzzy. I want it to be American themed, but in a way that matches the treadle. I could simply do an American flag but I don't think it would blend in with the rest of the pedal. I'm looking for something more elegant, but still distinctly American.
