They don’t need Joe. What’s the point? He’s not even that good.

You said it....he ain't that good...but look at what he has done with that, definitely A#1 promoter...

I don't think Gibson gets enough credit for what they've done with the mid-range market. M2 and Firebird Zero for example are great MIA guitars for their price range. Some quality issues aside they have something for everyone in every market segment. IMO they just need to focus on guitars and reputation maintenance.

I don’t get the hate. Love him or not he is a PHENOMENAL player.
Now I’ve never hear either of you guys play, but if you can do better please, post up some clips.

Justfred, the Yamaha scenario could work well... Yags has the required experience...

Of course, there's a strong desire to keep Gibson American in some camps. However, that mentality has probably worked against Gibson in the past...

Yags or Fenders view of Global market is something Gibson desperately needs and I guarantee both have been weighing cost/benefits of an acquisition...
Joe as a front man...Yamaha money and how to run a successful musical instrument business would do the trick....

He’s not. He’s an average player.

And yeah, I can. But I also don’t play white boy blues. Lol. I’ve been playing longer than he’s been alive.

Fair enough.
I’m lmao that you called me hoss. Where I’m from that’s not a common word.

Exactly... G still has some great stuff.Thats why a turnarounds a good idea. Unfortunately, the good stuf is burried under all of the bad decisions over the last 10 years...

As a result the audience is split... I have a wonderful Gibson and they are perfect vs my last Gibson sucked and never doing that again...

The correct answer is reclaim customer pov and run the business with modern process and G may get the ship back on track.

Very useful input!

Well then there is this:

Mostly a bunch of noise. Lol. Or “let’s regurgitate Jimmy Page riffs”.

Sorry, he bores the crap out of me. None of that is hard to play, and it’s not even in the context of a song.

When he can play like this guy I’ll be impressed.

You just picked my 3 favorites, and that made my day. Joe has nothing on any of them.
But as far as how to save Gibson...what we know is probably just an inkling of how bad it actually is.

Oh hell yes!

Sad I never got to see Holdsworth. I went to see him with Bruford back in the day, but he left the band. I was going to see him in NYC and then he died. [emoji22]

I also never saw Wetton. That was my favorite version of King Crimson.

Also never saw Missing Persons or UK.

Saw jobsen and wetton with asia...unbelivabe, but so was palmer and howe... Of course UK would have been amazing but such a small window...

Ok, so Howe was playing classic Gibsons at the time... How does that get us refocused on Gibson's current opportunities?;)

Went thru BK w/ Kaiser Aluminum...in the end solid profitable entity emerged after divesting over 75% of the prior company...took many hard working business and legal specialists to make it happen....more important it took one very charismatic leader to keep the reorganization plans on track, secure needed cash, hold the supplier and customer base together thru the process...Kaiser was bigger and am fairly certain in a lot more trouble than Gibson when they filed...

I’ve seen Yes twice, once with Moraz and then with Wakeman on the Relayer tour. Saw ELP twice on the Brain Salad tour.

My real favorite prog band is Gentle Giant. First saw them opening for Mahavishnu.

Gibson is way past needing a famous artist. Everyone knows about Gibson guitars.
