How to swap magnets?

Hi,
I'm gonna kick the emgs out of my guitar soon, and I am up to swap the bridge pickup with an sh-4. Ill also try to swap the magnet with an Alnico 2, but how do I have to do that? I'm a total newbie to pickup modification, so is there anything that I should consider (direction of the poles or so)? Is there some kind of pictured instruction on the internet? Or is it all easier than I think? :D
Thanks for reading :boggled:

Re: How to swap magnets?

From what I've seen SD marks their magnets - -the marked edge points toward the slug coil. If you buy a magnet and it's not marked you can figure it out by putting the edges together side by side long ways. They're facing the same way when the edges attract. If you do happen to put the magnet in the wrong way the worst that will happen is you'll get an out of phase tone (like Peter Green) when using both pickups at the same time.

I highly recommend having a sharpie handy when you pull the magnet out so that you can put your own mark on the magnet to mark orientation. It may save some guess work later.
