Looking too get one. I have a super distortion in it right now how much of a change would the sh-15 alternative 8 give me?

There'll be a little more low-end with the Alternative 8 over the Super D, should retain it's definition in high gain situations as well.

Don't have an Alt 8, but I do like what an A8 does for an SG bridge PU. Gives a powerful, balanced tone.

I've never used a super d but I know that the alt 8 has huge but firm lows and agressive fat mids. Highs are warm but the pickup is not muddy at all. Notes kids leap from the fretboard

^+1.

I haven't played a Super D (Dimarzio?), but I know that the Alt 8 is great. Big solid lows, lush mids, warm but articulate highs.

The Alt 8 is a fantastic pup for an SG. Like Blueman said, A8 mags seem to work really well in SGs. It gives an SG more meat. Go for it.

Nice!!! Thanks guys the super D for me sounds great!! But just does not have the big lows that I'm looking for. And yes dimarzio.

I personally have an SG with an Alternative 8 in it, and I used to have a Kramer DMZ-2000 with Super D's in it, you'll much prefer the Alternative 8 if there isn't enough bass in the Super D.
