How would cedar sound....

.....as a top on a solidbody strat style guitar?

Any help would be appreciated.

I think you'd have better luck with hardwoods. Cedar is sometimes used as a top on classical or hollowbody electric guitars, but I've never heard of it being used on on solidbodies. But it would probably work.

I've been thinking along these lines.. a mate has some spruce lying around I'm gonna build something out of.... my long service leave starts in another 4 working days, so hope to have one done in another month or 2...

may be a problem with how soft it is, so I was contemplating using as a core, but hey.. you gotta try these things...
