how's the '59 sound split?

I've been very happy with my '59 trembucker in may strat...so much so that I'm thinking about putting a full set in my Les Paul studio. I feel the pickup has been very versatile (in my strat) and I got a lot of what I need tone wise from it. I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to put a push/pull pot in to split the coils. Anybody have any experience with spliting the '59s? I know some HB's tend to split better than others. Thanks!

a 59 is usually 2 cond which means you cant split one unless you order or otherwise get one that has 4 cond wiring

i dont think the split tone of the bridge is all that great by itself but mixed with the split neck i think you can get a nice spanky tone. the neck split can stand on its own much better. no bucker sounds like a strat pup when split except the stagmag (which is basically two strat pups jammed together)

I agree that the 59 by itself is a bit "anemic" split, very thin and low output IMO... and while I agree on the Stagmag, the JB also splits fantastically well. That´s one of the reasons I use them at the neck
