i have a strat that i'm wiring with a JB in the bridge, an SSL-6 in the neck, a three-way switch and a volume pot (no tone) and for the life of me i can't find a single wiring diagram on the net for these specs. suggestions?

thanks!

Re: HS strat wiring

just wire it up like a tele but leave out the tone pot. heres the standard tele wiring. you would need to adapt with the humbucker and lack of tone control but you get the idea. for the humbucker, replace the single coil's black wire with the green and bare wire from your humbucker and replace the white wire from the single coil with the black from the humbucker and solder red and white together! hope this helps

Re: HS strat wiring

Or you can replace the neck HB here with your single coil. Black of your SSL-6 will replace the green&bare of the neck HB. White of your SSL-6 will replace the black of the neck HB. Simply ignore the red&white of the neck HB and you will be all set.

Re: HS strat wiring

thanks for the help.

i find the 3-way switch confusing. i have one i ordered from warmoth and it is backwards from the one you posted. that is, the lugs that are on the left in your post are on the right on my switch, and vice versa. does this make sense? i'd post a photo if i had a camera.

Does it look like this?

These fairly easy to wire. Just do a sanity check with your eyes. You will see the blade moving under the lugs when you switch between positions. The diagram is how you see the switch from he bottom btw.

Re: HS strat wiring

yes, it does look like that. so does that diagram apply to my switch? cuz when i look at how the blade moves under the lugs it still seems like my switch is backwards from the diagram. when you say the diagram is how the switch looks from the bottom do you mean from underneath it?

Re: HS strat wiring

that's what i meant actually--does that switch-translation apply? cuz it all seems backwards still.

Simply use the 3 way blade switch as you see it here. Connect the white (hot) from the SSL-6 to where it says neck in this diagram and Connect the the black (hot) from the JB to the lug that says bridge.

Edit: Once you wire it you plug your guitar, turn on your amp and take screw driver. Touch each pup at every switch position see when it makes noise. This will tell you which pups are on at which positions.

If it works as reverse you will only need to swap 2 cables. you will only be 2 solder joints away.

Re: HS strat wiring

Looking at setting up a HS Strat and want to fire up this post again as what I'm considering hasn't rated a mention.

Q: Why wouldn't you apply SSS 5way wiring to a HS setup?

what do you mean? you only need a 3 way with 2 pickups. :/
