HSH Headache, coil splitting

Hope somebody can help, im looking to get an single for my middle pickup. I have 2 other humbuckers which i want it to go with it but just not sure on polarities etc. Ive been all over the internet and ive now got a headache.
Ive attached an image depicting my pickups and the polarities etc.

What i want is all to be in phase, hum cancelling and to be able to split both humbuckers into singles.

Can it be done?

Thank You

Pushpulls for individual control on the buckers.... or ibanez 5-way tricky wiring schemes

Re: HSH Headache, coil splitting

You can use a regular ssl-2 neck pickup to make a hum cancelling setup. The ssl-2 has south-up magnetic polarity. For the wiring, its just a matter of getting the humbucker wires connected in the right order to make the north coils of the humbuckers active in pos 2 and pos 4. I can post more details later.

I was talking about the humbuckers, if you split them they are single coils and no longer humbucking. I didn't know that about the ssl-2 though.

Yes.. Devastone is absolutely right. You only get hum cancelling in neck and bridge when the humbuckers are in full-humbucking (not split), and also in the 2 and 4 positions when you pull the volume knob to split them. What I've posted below is fairly basic HSH wiring with push-pull knob to manually split the humbuckers. It shows the colour codes for your particular pickups that you detailed in post #1. The 1M (1000k) resistor is added to the middle pickup to improve the compatibility with 500k control pots. 510k or 750k values resistor is also possible to further reduce the brightness.

If you want more options for hum cancelling you can consider putting a single coil sized humbucker in the middle position to make a HHH combination. Then you can potentially get hum-cancelling in positions 2, 3, 4 no matter whether the pickups are split or not.
