Just wondering:

Does the neck/middle position of a HSH guitar sound the same as that of a HSS in neck/middle ? I know that pickup distance is different, just wondering if its possible....

Thanks
Faisal

NO they are not the same, a true single coil cant be beat at its own game. the best you can hope to do is,have the front bucker split in conjuntion with the middle single. thats a passible tone at least
I would go HSS myself,i plan on modding my so cal for this pup layout

He was asking about neck/middle, so it would be the two single coils either way.

Unless you subscribe to the theory that the magnets are having a wide enough field to "see" each other then it will be the same sound.

In HSS pickguards the middle pickup is in the same position as in SSS pickguards, so that's not an issue either. It might be different for rear-routed axes which might have things realigned for looks reasons, and it will definitely be different if the guitar has 24 frets.

Only if you wired it to autosplit the humbucker (as in Ibanez guitars). Most of my HSH guitars do not have that option.

Re: HSH vs HSS

I think I misunderstood the question. Never mind.

Of course this isn't remotely the same.
