HSS South Coil Autosplit Help

Hi all,

I recently swapped out the humbucker in my MIM Fender Standard HSS Strat (2014) with a SD Pearly Gates trembucker.

The original fender wiring was for autosplit of the north coil of the humbucker with the middle pickup in the second position.
When wiring the SD in i tried to wire for the south coil to split with the middle pickup. (north start to ground, north/south finish to pickup selector and south start to pickup selector)
Essentially swapping the north and south start wire locations from the factory wiring.

When i finished, i found this second position to be really quiet and not 'strat quack'-esque at all (I have checked by tapping the poles and it has split the south coil and the middle pickup as intended). The original autosplit wiring was very balanced with the other pickup positions.

Is this to be expected or have I gooched the wiring?

Cheers,
George

Welcome to the forum. Typically, Fender pups are reverse polarity from Duncans. You may want to just reverse both wires on the singles.

Thanks for the reply.
Will that mean the neck pickup and south coil of the humbucker will be together in the second position?

Re: HSS South Coil Autosplit Help

Should be. Flipping black & white on the singles shouldn't have any affect on which HB'er coil is selected. If it's the south coil now, it will remain so.

Thanks again mate.
One final question, will the neck and middle pups stay with the same tone pots (i.e. neck & tone 1 and middle & tone 2) if i swap those wires?
Cheers
