HSS Strat Bridge PUP suggestions.

Hello ALL,
I am looking into building a HSS strat, I already have the SS part taken care of. I have the Fender Texas Hots which I love their sound. I am looking for a nice bridge HB to compliment the Neck and Mid PUP's. Any Suggestions?
I was thinking of either an A2Pro or a C5 as I don't want to over power the singles with a JB.

If I do remove the Texas Hots, I'll probably go with the quarter pounders.
So any and all suggestions would be helpful.

Re: HSS Strat Bridge PUP suggestions.

I really like the 59 Trembucker. It'll balance nicely with the Texas Specials. That's the one I use in my Strat and through a Marshall or tweed Bassman it'll do anything from Clapton/Cream tone to EVH. Lew

Thanks LEW,
I am planning on making this Strat a harttail so I don't think I really need a trembucker, unless there is another reason I should go with one. Maybe i'll just go with a standard 59.
I am also currious about the Pearly Gates, and the AlnicoII Pro. Do you or anybody else have an opinion on these.
Would a Duncan Distortion be too hot?

The sound i'm going for would be, a straty sounding neck and middle, I really want to get more of a Janes Addiction heavy sound from the bridge.

I am playing through a Mesa Mark IV

The APH-2 and the Pearly Gates would both work well and the 59 is a good call as well. The C-5 isn't that far below a JB in output but it could be a good choice as well, especially if you split the JB or C-5 in the #4 position.

Strats, even the hard tail versions often have a fairly wide string spread and a trem spaced HB is probably a good idea. Measure the string spread of the new bridge and if it is 2" or greater get the trembucker version.

Even if you make your Strat a hardtail (like I did) you`ll still want to go with a Trembucker due to the Strats bridge spacing . I put the 59b in my Strat and it does what Lew says it will do!

Re: HSS Strat Bridge PUP suggestions.

Thanks for the input guys. There are still just too many choices. I am leaning towards the 59 at this point. I just need to be sure it can serve up the Krunch when driven.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.

Oh it will crunch very nice when driven , I`m using a Boss SD-1 and Soldano Atomic 16 amp and it crunches the hell out of the 59 pickup. I would imagine it would sound really good through a high gain amp.

Re: HSS Strat Bridge PUP suggestions.

I would consider 2 alternatives:

1. As Lew suggested either a 59b or a PG+ which sound quite similar, but with more uppermid mid punch (that texas sizzle thing ;) ), both preferably hot ~8.60-80K.

2. CC. Great pickup. You'd have a all a2 setup.

Another thing: Hardtails are cool, but make sure to get one of them "modern" narrow spaced hardtail bridges. If you are getting it from warmoth, ask them to adjust the string holes on the top of the body to accomodate such a bridge. I know they do it, I asked for it and they got it done.

Does this mean I can get away without a Trembucker spaced bridge PUP?

Re: HSS Strat Bridge PUP suggestions.

I was thinking of getting one of those "HIPSHOT" hardtail bridges I saw at Stewmac. They measure 2 1/6" so would that require a trembucker or a standard spaced PUP? Also I've heard the term "F" spaced PUP.. what does that mean? I assume that means a humbucker that fits a wider Fender type of bridge.
