Hughes & Kettner Warp-X, anyone know anything about it?

I've been offered one in trade, I knew absolutely nothing about it, and not much more after a google search. I guess it's a poor man's uberschall, which actually works, but I need dependable and solid metal sounds. What I was looking for is a 5150, for what it's worth. Can anyone tell me about this amp and/or attest to H&K tube amp quality?

I believe the warp-x is solid state.

I did borrow a friend's Warp 7 from time to time when I couldn't get my amp to rehearsals. Sounded solid with the Warp cab. Pretty versatile style wise and easy to dial a good sound in.
Both his H&K and my H&K practice combo died after +10 years though. Both keep blowing fuses.

Nah, the Warp-7 is the solid state amp. This thing is German made, all tube, two channel, sold new for $1800. Supposedly a mini Uberschall according to ss.org dudes. Supposed to be an awesome amp, just no bells and whistles, and it was marketed as a nu-metal amp (lolz).

I don't think it's happening, dude is weird and it's a CL deal.

I've actually played one years ago, man I thought it was really harsh without a lot of depth or body, gain wise it could keep up with an Uber or a TriRec but it made a trirec sound warm to my ears....but hey it could have just been how the guy had it set up, he was into a really scooped metal tone and that's how he had the amp eq'd....he was also eq'd for seven strings and I played my old lp studio that I had at the time through it.... I feel like you'd be trading way down, lol....

I used one that was owned by a practice room many moons ago late teens early twenties maybe in my second band. I remember it sounding awesome but it was a heck of a long time ago and it sounded awesome in comparison to a DSL which I absolutely hated with a passion.

Don't really know about the Warp-X, but the Warp 7 I played certainly wasn't harsh and had plenty of depth and I played a single coiled strat through it. Had the EQ close to noon though. Might also be a cab issue. The one I played had the Warp cab (heavy bugger).
