Humbucker flip

Haven't done it yet but what could I expect if I flip my Pearly Gates Bridge PU upside down in the bridge position? Warmer,duller,fatter,muddy??????

Little to no change

Most people who say otherwise either changed strings, perhaps dead to good or a different brand/gauge/design, performed a much needed setup or managed to undo it, and/or accidentally re-installed pickup much higher or lower to the strings

^ Incorrect. The screws are brighter so putting them farther away from the bridge gives it a slightly warmer sound.

By the time I disassembled everything and put it back together with the pickup upside down, I doubt I'd hear a change. Doesn't mean there wouldn't be one, I just doubt my ability to hear it.

If you triple shot a regular (neck) humbucker, you can hear the subtle difference between the screw and slug in real time.

Subtle is the best case scenario of a flip. In most cases its in the realm of 'was there a difference?'.

If you're looking to overcome any tonal issues in the pickup, that is unlikely to solve it.

It would probably work upside down, but it would be very cumbersome trying to play around the mounting ears...and it sure would look pretty ugly!
