I know the JB was really popular in a lot of 90s alternative too. Kurt Cobain, Billy Joe Armstrong and Jerry Cantrell used them, to name a few.

Wasn't Cobain more a super distortion guy? I know Cantrell is 100% super distortion.

Based on that, passive hot humbuckers from the late 70's & early 80's for the bridge.

For a Les paul: go with the custom.

Cobain replaced all his Super Distortions with JBs after the one on his favorite died.

That's what you get for using 'em with 250k pots.

But hey, to me, 90s rock is that kind of rock when people use high output pickups and med gain amps to get low gain tones...

I had never heard of Cantrell using Super D's but I believe it.

Cantrell's G&Ls were always JBs I believe. He has been using them since the early 90s. Never heard of him using a super distortion.
