Humbucker Mod Question

I've decided that I am going to add series-parallel switching with push-pulls to both the neck and bridge pups of my LP copy.

While the patient is on the table, I'm also considering a mod that will use the north coil of my bridge with the south coil of my neck, effectively (in theory) creating a "wide" humbucker.

Has anyone done this? Is it a usable tone - and one that differs from a "standard" HB?

Thanks

Re: Humbucker Mod Question

It is definitely a useable tone...somewhat similar to the neck/mid position on a strat, thought the different construct of a LP body and neck take alot of the "quack" out of the sound. If you want a really versatile setup, you could try this:
Neck Vol: pulls to Neck in Parallel
Bridge Vol: pulls to Bridge in Parallel
Neck Tone: pulls to "outer" coils (N Neck and S Bridge)
Bridge Tone: pulls to "inner" coils (S Neck and N Bridge)
I've had this setup before and found each sound useful.
