Im building a strat guitar,2 humbuckers, warmoth neck looking for ideas for pickups.
I play alot of 60s/classic rock music, need clean for beatles/elvis etc stuff but also fuller fatter sounding for heavier .
Ive used SD 59s in both neck/bridge spot,do like in neck but bridge sounded kinda weak, thin.
Had JB in past, same thing, not good.
Would like to stay with SD.
Thanks

Is that the SH-5? Would it clean up good?
The strat body is Mahogany if that makes a difference tone wise.

Ok,that is a possibility.
There are so many Customs, lol Custom Custom, Custom, Custom5.......hard to choose.
To bad they didnt have something between the 59 and those, like in 10-11.0K range.

Anyone put a 59 bridge pickup in neck position on strat?
Thought it might sound a little more aggressive for od stuff but still clean.

For "60s/classic rock music, need clean for beatles/elvis etc stuff but also fuller fatter sounding for heavier" in a mahogany body, I'd do one or other of the following:

Custom Custom bridge, Alnico 2 Pro neck
Custom 5 bridge, Jazz neck
StagMag bridge, Pearly Gates neck

if you felt shrill only the bridge I'd say "put a A2 In a 59, or take an A2pro", since you say "Weak" too I'd say a Custom or even a Custom Custom

it will sound a bit fatter and darker. bridge pups are wound with more turns to compensate for the thinner/weaker inherent tone of their physical position

Hybrid seems like a good fit for this situation, especially if you intend to split coils for clean tones.
CustomCustom is always good in Strat types. You might also think about the Perpetual Burn.

For something a little less hot, the Slash II bridge is a good choice.
Vintage-hot output, fuller and smoother than most PAF types, with a good balance between body and bite.

How would this sound, Jazz Bridge pickup in neck spot? Since it has more treble than the 59 might not sound so boomy.
Any thoughts on this?
Looking for alittle more output/bite in neck spot but still cleans up well.notch up from 59.

jazz bridge in the neck can sound great! typically less boomy than a 59b in the neck. i dont find neck pups to have much bite no matter what you put in that spot

Kool, I mostly play on neck position, got more of a buttery feel. was thinking for more overdrive tones.

Then, I say Alnico II Pro in the neck. But I still think a Hybrid in the bridge is the ticket.

Yeh Im leaning more towards 59 custom hybrid for bridge,or custom custom.
Just need something a little more beefy for neck.
