Good decision bro.
IMO, you are best served with a MIJ copy either a new Edwards or Tokai, or an old Burny or Greco.
If you are dead set on Gibson (nothing wrong with that, if $ are no issue , I'll take a good gibson any day of the week over a MIJ) my suggestion is to find a used late 80s to early 1990s Standard or Custom (say 88-93 or so). They have bigger necks (but not huge) and those are generally great years.
Don't overlook a higher end new MIJ either. Tokai LS120 +, Bacchus, etc.

My guitar teacher, who hates gibson normally, says that after the new chambering, the quality has increased notably. He has bought 2 Les Pauls within short time, because they have become really good according to him.
And I like the new ones, but I have only tried them without a amp.
But tomorrow, I am gonna check out some les pauls and get a good view of what is good and not good.

Just a few thoughts:
The Sykes model has a few good ideas - like disconnecting the tone pot from the bridge pickup. The tone is not really needed there. On a guitar that you you can hot rod, it leaves you with a spare knob for a Fishman acoustic piezo pickup or active electronics that you can add to the guitar.

I think with the chambering you have a better chance of getting a good sounding guitar. However it IS a different sound. More like a 335 as someone else mentioned. Not necc a bad thing, but it's NOT the same.

Good God! I thought that you were set, but luckily I was wrong. Get a JCM, and a couple of LP's, one Custom knok-off and one Std-copy. Japanese Tokais are good, the pups and perhaps other electronics are the only weakness of them, mainly the pups.
With installing the standard copy with JB/Full Shred and Custom with Custom and DiMarzio Paf or sth.

Don't forget old Orvilles when talking about MIJ Gibsons. Orville was Gibson Japan because the Gibson name wasn't available in Japan. I just picked up a used Orville Sykes, cause I love black LPCs but don't like gold hw, for around $600. Plays and sounds great, it has some character marks, but that just means I don't have to worry about adding to them. In fact, I already did when I dropped the bridge on the body, these definitely must be nitro, I've never seen poly chip that easy.

So... My mom just asked me to come upstairs for a quick chat.
We talked about me soon getting a job, and we found some jobs. Afterwards, she had a surprice for me.
As I did know, I have a educational account + my child savings account, and the educational is open when I am 18 for business in a educational or job like way.
So we talked about my future as a musician, and getting to play in a band for money playing covers, and we discussed possible education if I decide later to do it. I was never a college guy, and education is free in denmark so she threw a bomb.
Find my dream Les Paul. Get the pedals I want and go out there and get a great gig in a covers band.
So she is going with me on my 18th birthday to give me the money from my ed. account, containing roughly 5800dollars to spend on some good gear.
Man I have a killer mom!
And YES I have thought alot about my educational future, and like said its free in denmark.
So... My mom just asked me to come upstairs for a quick chat.

The only thing that really costs something in college here is books, and that is about 1000bucks a year.. And trust me, I aint college material so that wont be a expense I will need

I spent a little time in North Denmark teaching English when I was your age, and the Danish welfare system kicks the crap out of the UKs...your country is pretty sorted.
