Re: I am freaking out right now (cool story)
Artie.... I have played dozens of 50's Strats and Teles as well as Les Pauls and many other Gibsons......... The only thing I can say is when you play one you begin to understand that 50+ years can't be replicated. When you consider that these guitar are not being made the same way anymore ALL of these guitars have a historic value and should be kept intact. just my 2 cents. Than again a flyd Rose on a 59 Burst would be interesting:smack:
ArtieToo said:I gotta admit, I must be one of the few "old guys" that doesn't quite get the "vintage" thang. At least as far as guitars go. Would I mod a '31 Duesenberg Fixed Head Coupe to retrofit Cragar SS's? Of course not. But a '63 Strat? Why not? Unless of course it was played by Jimi at Woodstock or something. That is, if it had actual historical value. But a garden variety old Strat was a blue-collar instrument made by a blue-collar kind of guy. IMHO - I can recreate an exact duplicate today, that will play, "feel", and sound just like the original. Not true of the Duesy.
I reserve the right to change my mind if, and when, I ever get to actually play a "vintage" axe.
