I am thinking of ordering parts to make a guitar or buying a nice Strat Squier and getting a new neck as I like satin necks and I really want to get a custom neck from Warmoth and I really want a stratocaster but never got myself to liking the neck...

I have played my buddies strat for hours and I love it its a modified Squier that he bought a Fender neck and Seymour Duncan single coil pickups for his strat and when he told me it was a Squier I almost fainted but one thing I couldn't get myself in terms with was the neck the maple and maple combo so I was wandering wether I should do the same thing he did but get another neck type then fender so by warmoth

or get a MIM Fender

Neck type I was thinking
1) Neck: Bloodwood(warm tone) Fretboard: Ebony(bright tone) I liked this because it kind of evened out the combo of bright and warm to the middle.
2) Neck Mahogany(Warm tone) Fretboard: Ebony (Bright tone) Same output and reasoning up top!

so what are your opinions on the whole idea and whats your opinion and help on the neck? please help I am still saving some money up for this so I am in no rush!

Thanks!

These days, even the cheapest MIC Squier Affinity guitars can be set up to play well and their sound improved with pickup and control electronics upgrades. (See LtKojak's recent thread about EMGs in a red Strat and Brow's one about a Hello Kitty guitar.)

If you like the neck profile on your friend's guitar, buy the exact same design yourself. Alternatively, trawl guitar shops, trying Stratocasters, until you find a regular production model that suits your hand.

I would try a rosewood fingerboard on a maple neck before I went the whole exotic route... you may find it does enough.

If you'll look at my reply in your other thread I think you'll see what I think you should do.

PLAY PLAY PLAY lots of guitars. Don't waste money on a Squier RIGHT NOW because it's new and different...instead play lots of guitars and hold off on buying until you have more of an idea of what you want. I'd also not plan on ponying up for a strat or tele until I could manage to fork over the cash for a MIM Fender.
