I bet you don't have one of these

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

That fretboard looks too good to be true. I thought it was a synthetic material at first and then I looked closer and saw the grains. Congrats on the awesome score.

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

I'm glad to see he is finally getting some out in the field. I have three of his(previously owned) guitars, a Tele(the "Twistedcaster"), a Shecter Tempest that I put a set of P90's in & a Black Les Paul Studio/Gothic. That guitar is beautiful good luck with it.....

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

hot damn thats some nice birdseye. did he tint the tru-oil or it that was the natural color?

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

Thanks for the kind words guys.

As for a few questions and comments...

Top mount, non-recessed dive only Floyds are my thing but I can of course build floaters or non-Floyded guitars for crazy people who don't like Floyds haha.

Fret size, blame the sissy size frets on the buyer hahaha. My standard are usually Jescar's equivalent to 6100 size in nickel but Chris wanted 6105 size in stainless and that's what he got. Everything is build to order custom, no cookie cutter one size fits all guitars with standardized specs.

The fretboard is unstained 100% jet black ebony, not synthetic or anything like that...just high quality wood.

The neck is baked birdseye maple and that's the natural color after baking, it's not stained just tru-oiled which only darkens it a bit.

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

Great work Mike, those look really freaking nice! I guess that explains your recent absence. I hope it's a success, looks like you're on your way. If I hit the lotto I'll give you a call, haha.

Oh, and hey Ayrton, you ever get that Jake E Lee done yet?!

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

Ok, that guitar looks like what we'd have if a CS Charvel and a Suhr Modern had a baby! Looks-wise it's phenomenal, and the more I look at the photos the more the attention to every single detail becomes apparent.

And that's my personal preference but that fretboard (frets included) is really drool-worthy and makes me wanna touch it in all kinds of dirty dirty ways :D

Congrats Ayrton for the amazingly GAS-worthy axe and congrats Mike (aka XXSIVE) for apparently the 4th of hopefully many a great builds to come!!!

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

Yeah, the more I look, the more I love.. Wow! Keeper, I still want to get a Stinnett like yours too! I hope you are well bro! We need to catch up!

So, Baked neck.. 2 hours at 350 degrees on the center rack, wrapped in foil with alittle cooking sherry and some pearl onions for flavor?

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

i'm usually a lurker, but i had to complement you on that beautiful guitar! it's perfect! i really need a change of pants!

I knew the fretboard was real, in that picture it looks so good though. once again congrats on the score. Rock that proudly.

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

Gorgeous guitar, great score! Congrats to Mike on the build too! The only thing I would change is that I'd love to see the birdseye on the front of the headstock too instead of the gloss black. :)

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

Beautiful work. I bet the body-mounted p'ups (no rings!) sound great.

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

That's honestly the nicest superstrat I've ever seen.

The only thing better would be seeing that guitar photographed in front of Ayrton's amp collection! Do it!

Re: I bet you don't have one of these

Thanks guys.

Bloodrose...don't forget to butter it first. :laugh2:

Stevie...the headstock was Chris' call and I felt the same way too...at first. I sent him a pic of it raw showing how crazy the birdseye was on the headstock but he was set on black. In all honesty it ended up flowing much better with the black headstock than it would have with the raw birdseye so it was the right call in the end.

GJ...yeah it would look real nice in front of the red Marshall, or the Purple, or the orange or maybe...this could go on for a while lol.

Brian...Finding baked birdseye of that caliber was a bit tricky and put quite a delay on the build. Yankee Veneer Corp. is one source that sells it.
