And it is one fantastic guitar. It is very light and resonant acoustically it is loud and sweet...reminds me of an SG in a lot of ways. The finish is sort of a dark reddish brown which doesnt really show up well in photos. The finishing is excellent, one teeny little bit of paint is left on the binding at the neck joint on the bass side of the neck. The top is glossy, the back and sides are satin which is something I quite like. My favourite aspect of this guitar is how it is a V but doenst look heavy metal....no small feat.
The neck is thin and fast with a very slight V shape at the top that is barely noticeable as you go up the neck. The fingerboard is supposed to be Chechen but it sure looks and feels like regular rosewood to me. If this is Chechen then sign me up because there is nothing wrong with the fingerboard on this guitar.
A closeup of the fingerboard
I dont like Burstbucker Pros on Les Pauls but on all mahogany guitars they are great, and on this guitar they are great. They have enough clarity and punchiness to make me happy. While on the subject of pickups i have to say that my only nit was how the pickups were mounted from the factory. Specifically the pickups were flat with the body but didnt match the angle of the string and neck pitch...which is where I think they should sit. I see this on SG's and it drives me nuts. When I did the string change and setup I corrected that little nit.
A little foam and voila....issue solved.
Great guitar.
