I bought these duncan designed pups on a whim

Re: I bought these duncan designed pups on a whim

Could be fun. I've never seen HB103N/B under those covers before.

I had a Schecter that had an HB103B under a cover like that. Had an SC101 (I think!) under a cover as well.

that's cool.. how was it in comparison to a SH6?

I'm curious about the neck because what I've read is that it has a DC reading of 7~8k - so it's obviously not similar to a SH-6n

DC Resistance isn't always indicative of output. One of the members here used an HB103N in the bridge of his guitar and got some great high gain sounds out of it.

I thought that the 103 set was based off the Jazz neck for the neck pickup at least. I put a 103n in a Jay Turser LP copy paired with a Duncan Distortion in the bridge and it sounds great!

I've heard the same thing. The HB103b is a DD and the neck is a Jazz.

HB102 is JB/Jazz style, I thought.

If only the product description page were still accessible. :p

We all pretty much agree that the HB 103 bridge is a distortion.

And the HB 103 neck - well, it's something else.

The Detonator is a Distortion with Invader poles. Very cool pup

The HB103N is wound with AWG#42 wire. The SH-6n is wound with AWG#43 wire, that alone explains the different DC reading.

I'm pretty sure the HB-103's are the Distortion set. I have a couple sets. I think they sound killer.

Never seen 'em with those covers. Those look sweet.

Well, at least it's what they said they were modeled after.

I ve used the HB103N in several occasions as a good, PAF-ish neck p'up with excellent reviews by their owners, using either an A4 or an A3.

Re: I bought these duncan designed pups on a whim

that's good info! So the HB103N has a regular ceramic stock, correct?

I didn't know the SH-6n was 42awg, there must be a lot of wire on those bobbins. What's the SH-6b wound with? 43? 44? these are things I'd like to learn more about.
