I cannot loosen the output jack on my RG550...

the cavity is too small for my smallest wrench and it's on too tight to get off with my thumb. I'm putting a camo 81/85 set in the old girl and at the very least i need to get the battery connected to it but I can't even get it to turn to where I could solder it to it. I'm at a loss right now :\

I know there's a way because I've played a few RG 550's with EMG's in it. Try checking google?

Try a nut driver -- probably 7/16" or 1/2".

I suggest a slight dab of 3in1 oil, let it set for a few minutes, and come back to it with a pair of needle nose pliers that allow you to get a good grip in such a tight cavity. I recently had to do this on a Dean 5 string bass with those funky stereo jacks.

This is the primary reason why I hate deep panel jacks, to much dorking around with needle nose pliers or nut drivers in the hopes of loosening it in most cavities. And geting it in tight isn´t much easier...

Sordid is on the right track ;)

*edit* Just took a look at the jack setup on my 2077, is this an RG where the jack is in a separate llittle compartment as on mine? You should easily be able to fit a normal open ended wrench or small crescent wrench in there. BTW the nut on mine calipers at 14mm / 9/16", and it´s also a TRS jack so it should work with actives no sweat.

+1, and be gentle so you dont slip and scratch it up
