I can't thin my stockpile of gear

I have been thinking about getting rid of a couple of my 4x12 cabs lately just to thin the herd. A co worker comes in with a Randall 4x12 cab this morning and says if you want it take it. Of course I am going to take it. He said he has a bunch of pedals too, I am going to check them out at lunch. I am going to find someone in need and gift them the Randall.

Re: I can't thin my stockpile of gear

Well, "big" difference between a bunch of pedals and a 4x12 :D

Re: I can't thin my stockpile of gear

Hey, at least you're going to do some good for someone with that Randall.

Was going to do some good...I looked in my coworker's truck during lunch it is a Randall Commander IV 4X10, 200 watt combo and a bunch of rack gear. I played through an orange stripe Randall head in my metal days and regret ever selling that amp. This looks like a keeper. I will post some pics when I get home.

Yep - pulled the trigger on a Suhr Koji Compressor (Its the 15% off code that did it.. LOL) and an XTS interface in the last week.

Re: I can't thin my stockpile of gear

Got the booty home. The guy gave me a 12 space rack case with a DOD 31 band EQ, Patch Bay and a 3 space drawer in it. Perfect for my PA gear. He also gave me this amp. The pots are expectedly a bit dirty but it sounds great. Super deep spring reverb, loud as heck and the gain channel has a bit of funk to it. There is also a pull boost for the treble. Seems like it could be a fun amp, definitely a keeper.

Ah, a 410! That's an early one.....an interesting solid state Super Reverb I presume.

Don't feel guilty like you've got to give it all away. It's all fun and games, owning cool amps. I noticed you have an Excelsior too.

You are right, reverb, 410, 200 watts! Love the Excelsior I play it more than any amp in the house. I have had it for almost two years and have yet to plug a pedal into it. I keep the Excelsior and my Marshall VS100 in my office upstairs, the Randall will go in the basement/jam area with the other monsters. When the wife goes shopping I am going to plug a MXR Distortion+ and a crybaby into the Randall and give it a kick in the butt. I am also dying to take my acoustic for a run with it.

Re: I can't thin my stockpile of gear

Banged on the Randall all morning with the acoustic and it sounded awesome. I dragged it downstairs finally where I can give the volume a bit more of a push. I think I am going to end up using this amp a lot for my cleaner stuff.

Now *that's* a man cave!

Re: I can't thin my stockpile of gear

Looks like it could handle the "heavy" girls....

Actually the strippers I have locked in the basement are pretty thin.

Yes, that is the fortress of solitude. The winter project is to frame it all in and put a jam room on the side of the basement you see in the picture and a bar on the other side of the stairs. Keeping the booze, kegerator and beer fridge as far from the drummer as possible is key to a successful practice.

Re: I can't thin my stockpile of gear

omg look at all the booze!!!

I've met and read about guys who thrive on it for musical performance/creativity, but I think for every guy like that, there are 10 who simply become slobs.:oo

I never drink more than 2 if I have to play in front of someone or record something (ok maybe 4 if it's just recording :D ). The real drinking comes AFTER the jam. :beerchug:
