I did a bad thing...

And that would be plug a bass guitar into my Mesa Lonetsar Special...

Ok, get all the schadenfreude out of your system...

I have plugged basses into every guitar amp I have ever had and there was no problem, but the LSS didn't last 5 seconds.
It's totally non responsive, not even the power light.

Any tips?

Re: I did a bad thing...

As far as I know the main thing that you blow with bass frequencies is speakers not components so I'd go with the fuse idea.

Re: I did a bad thing...

yeah what he said. especially dont use a mesa, they are notoriously finicky

Re: I did a bad thing...

main fuse, and who knows what else.

SOMEONE GET THIS GUY A BASSMAN!

(don't worry, i did this too... a mesa with an american deluxe zone bass... lasted about 2 seconds then dead. You're not the first to do this, and you won't bel the last... so if it's any consolation, you're not the only one who's done that.... I have too)

Re: I did a bad thing...

It's like riding a motorcycle at 120 MPH. You can do it without a problem many, many times. Then all of a sudden ....... dam*.

Re: I did a bad thing...

I play bass through my Vox AD15VT with an 8" speaker all the time. Them Mesa's are too finicky!

Re: I did a bad thing...

Ok, the consensus seems to be it's the fuze...
Which would mean it's not the bass that caused the problem?

Screw it, I'm just taking it to my amp tech this weekend

Re: I did a bad thing...

Playing bass into the amp had NOTHING to do with it dying...NOTHING at ALL and ANYONE that says other wise is a fool.

The amp doesn't care at all what you plug into it...it just makes the signal louder...

the speaker on the other hand can be damaged but the amp...no ...plug a guitar, bass, mic, trumpet, flute, synth, sax...whatever into it and it'll just make it louder...

Re: I did a bad thing...

I'm almost positive it's the fuse, I checked it out, and it looks moderately fried, I'll go to radio shack tomorrow and pick up one, see if it does the trick...

It's tough for me to believe that the bass had nothing to do with it, the amp was perfect right up until I plugged it in...
That's one hell of a coincidence

Believe what you want to believe but Im telling you the bass had nothing to do with it...Call Mesa and ask them...Randy Smith would tell you that the bass had nothing to do with it...

Bass players have used guitars amps hundreds of times over the years with fine results...trust me when I tell you the amp simply does not care what you plug into it...

Re: I did a bad thing...

Guilty

wanna know bout a great bass amp, as in amazing-wow, to plug in a Gibson T-Bird bass?

early 90s Bogner Ecstasy 1/2-stack. I did. Sounded super good. Well, it blew up for the new owner 4 times but it gave me no probs for 10 years.

Re: I did a bad thing...

I'm with TGWIF on this one...the bass is not the culprit, it simply found a weak link that was already there and exposed it.
