But for $200, I'd have to be dumber than a box of rocks to pass on this.
Behold the Mesa Express 5:50! This is a hell of an amp. It's my first quality channel switching amp ever, and my first amp with a footswitch in the better part of four years. I played it for about an hour at mid to high home volume and it sounds really, but I can tell that once you open it up it will get even better. Part of the reason it sounds so great at low volumes is the contour section - it really gets rid of the boxy, small amp feel when you're not trying to disturb other people.
Cosmetically, it's in pretty good shape, just a small ding or two and a 1.5" tolex rip on the back. It even came with the footswitch, cover, and all of the paperwork. The previous owner said that it's got a small noise problem, but as far as I can tell it's only on the clean mode of channel 1 but it goes away when you start playing. It should be an easy fix if it gets worse though, he said it should just be a capacitor or something.
I really couldn't be more happy for $200. Hell, I could probably play the Craigslist trading game and use this to eventually get my way into something really good that I wouldn't be able to afford otherwise. I could probably sell it for $500 quite easily if I wanted too.
I've accrued a lot of crap recently. Oh well, who needs living space when you have gear out the wazoo?
